Solarisation Effect

23rd July 2020

Begin with colour image – make an Adjustment Layer – Black and White – OK (leave at default settings or you can change the colour channels to make them darker) – New Adjustment Layer – Curves – OK – (to make the reverse changes) create an anchor point in the middle of the diagonal curve line – Take the shadow point and move it from the bottom to top (because their is an anchor in the middle of the Curve line all the highlights stay the same) – The curve box now looks like a U – To alter the contrast you drag the central anchor point down – you can also create a W by creating two more anchors either side of the central anchor, this creates another layer of reversal.

If you hide the black and white layer you will obtain a colour solarised image.
